Meet Shelby

About Me: I'm Shelby (LMSW-C, CCTP-II) and I'm here to provide a warm, compassionate, and holistic approach to your healing journey. I am a cat-loving, book-reading, coffee-drinking social worker. I believe that authenticity serves as a guiding light on the path to healing. With personal experience in navigating cPTSD and auDHD, I understand the intricate complexities of healing and the vital role of authenticity in the process. When I’m not at my practice, I love being in nature, traveling, trying new foods, and creating content on social media!

Values: I am deeply passionate about social justice and recognize the importance of addressing systemic issues related to mental health care and overall well being. I am dedicated to upholding neuro-affirming, anti-oppressive, and anti-ableist principles, and to serving as an affirming ally to LGBTQ+ communities, BIPOC, and individuals with disabilities. In my practice, I actively work towards these commitments by fostering a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment that values the diversity, lived experiences, and uniqueness of each client.

Professional Experience: I completed my undergrad studies at Grand Valley State University (GVSU), earning a Bachelor of Arts & Science in Psychology in 2014. I then went on to complete my Master’s Degree in Social Work at GVSU in 2020. During my time as a graduate student, I worked as an intern therapist doing home-based work with children and families. My training includes that in trauma-informed care, child development, and somatic/holistic approaches to therapy. I am currently Licensed to practice clinical social work in the state of Michigan, USA. (MI #6801115973).
